All bases covered as car firm makes big step up

A HULL car parts business has been transformed into a “one stop shop” with a wide range of services, after moving to new premises.

Titan started as a vehicle parts and accessories retailer in Cleveland Street, east Hull, in 2007.

The company has now taken over large premises in Francis Street, in the city centre, where it has set up an on-site garage and launched a car sales, recovery and repair service.

Titan signed a deal to let the 9,971sqft space in October last year. The agreement was negotiated by Garness Jones, acting on behalf of the landlord.

The Titan team are still moving in and have kept their Cleveland Street site, where they continue to sell car parts and accessories.

Simon Webb, who set up and manages the business, said: This move has allowed us to branch out.

“We started as mainly a retail and car parts delivery service, but now it’s effectively a one-stop shop for anybody who’s got a car.”

The new site will enable Titan to expand its second-hand sales arm with a large forecourt area, where between 30 and 40 vehicles can be showcased.

The garage facilities allow detailed checks and repairs before vehicles go on sale.

Mr Webb said: “We call it the Titan Every Day Check, as the vehicles undergo 365 checks, one for each day of year, whereas with a normal MOT, there are only 40 checks. That way, we make sure the car is up to scratch before it goes on the road.”

The expansion of the business, in just two years, has taken staff numbers from two to five.

Mr Webb is still on the look out for new staff.

He said: “We’re managing, but if someone good comes along, I will take them on.

“We’re looking for people for the body parts shop, repair workers and more mechanics. Also, potentially a car sales person and someone to manage the Internet business.”

Titan runs three websites, the most recent of which, titanhull.com went live just two weeks ago and allows people to book their MOT from home.
