Company on the rise moves to new home

29/09/2010

A GROWING client base combined with a dedication to staff training has led a Hull-based company to relocate.

Proactive Health Partners Limited was launched to provide carers and support staff on temporary contracts to homes and learning disability units across the region.

Managed by Claire Goforth, this part of the business has enjoyed rapid growth since it formation five years ago.

However last year, after one of the directors had a bad personal experience of another agency's home care services, Proactive launched its own domiciliary care management team.

Director Deborah Stock said: "When my grandmother became ill with cancer in 2008 we had to have help with her personal care.

"Social services advised us to use a particular agency, but it brought nothing but further heartache.

"I begged the council to allow Proactive to send carers to her, which eventually they agreed."

In a bid to then improve their offering, Deborah and fellow director Dimitri Reeder began the process of getting registered with the Care Quality Commission, which was successfully achieved in January 2009.

By April 2009 Proactive had secured accredited provider status with East Riding Council and the home care service created the opportunity to open a branch in Bridlington, which is now

Deborah said the focus of training for both sides of the company remained a high priority, with trainer Sam Kendall delivering the core standard inductions for carers as well as manual handling training and medication training.

And now Proactive is set to expand further by offering external training for other businesses.

Deborah added: "Both sides of the business have grown enormously over the last 12 month.

"Also, in order to develop the training side, it was necessary to promote our image, get more space and generally invest in our own staff, hence the move to Sculcoates Lane.

"A lot of our home carers also come to the office to pick up equipment and hand gels and so forth, as well as for training, and they were finding it difficult to park in town, so our new base makes is much easier for them.

"The move went extremely well – I can’t believe how smoothly it all went and Paul at Garness Jones has been fantastic."
