Live music venue sees rush of interest

A live music venue in Hull has attracted a sudden influx of interest.
The number of recent inquiries about the Lamp in Norfolk Street, Hull, suggest potential operators are beginning to see the opportunities presented by the area's pool of performing talent.
Simon Grainger, surveyor at Garness Jones, said interested parties were keen to tap into the local talent, despite the venue having only attracting limited interest when first placed on the market.
The venue has long been a favourite for fans of live music and comedy, alongside establishments the New Adelphi Club, in De Grey Street, and the Welly Club in Beverley Road.
Mr Grainger, who specialises in retail and leisure developments, said: "When we first picked up the instruction, there was not a great deal of interest.
"But then we received a number of inquiries very quickly.
"The Lamp is aimed at a niche market and potential operators we are talking to would want to continue in the same style.
"The sudden rush of interest may be because people see an opportunity around the talent in the area.
"Events such as the Freedom Festival gave local performers the chance to show what they can do and maybe our more established venues can get a spin-off from that."
