High-speed move paves way to expansion for flooring company

SS Flooring Systems moved into new premises only four weeks after viewing the property at Bankside in Hull.

Scott Ward, owner of the business, said: “When we made our previous move it took a month just to get the paperwork done so it’s been great to make such good progress with this move.”

Scott followed his father into the flooring business and set up SS Flooring Systems about 10 years ago having worked extensively abroad.

The company is active in retail and industry as well as in schools and hospitals.

Scott employs 16 people including sub-contractors and says the move from the current site at Sutton is likely to lead to gradual expansion.

He said: “Apart from anything else we have been struggling with space for our vehicles and we have been paying for an additional storage area at Hedon Road, but this will enable us to bring everything together.

“We were looking for a new site for about six months and when this one came up we knew straight away it would be perfect for our needs. It’s modern and in a nice area, with plenty of storage space and good offices.

“In the future we want to look into manufacturing our own products and this will give us the space to do that.”

Jack Ward of Garness Jones said: “It is always nice when a deal like this comes together and meets the needs of the clients so quickly. We actually completed the deal just two weeks after the company viewed the building.

“Scott knew as soon as he saw the premises that they were right for his business, and it is clearly a big advantage that the building is capable of supporting the expansion of SS Flooring Systems to the next level.”
