A company which has emerged as a UK leader in the manufacture of modular buildings has embarked on further expansion in Hull only a year after arriving in East Yorkshire.
Actavo opened a depot at Tickton early in 2016 with the help of Garness Jones. With business booming, the company soon found it needed more space, and Garness Jones provided the solution with a 120,000-square foot unit at Freightliner Road in Hull.
Actavo, an engineering solutions company based in Ireland, employs more than 6,000 people globally in delivering network, in-home, industrial, hire and sales, building and event solutions to the world’s leading companies.
The new factory has created 33 jobs, with more to come, in the production of bespoke, state-of-the-art modular accommodation for a variety of sectors, including education, healthcare, construction, commercial, rail and defence. Dave Garness, Managing Director of Garness Jones, said the property is one of the biggest to change hands in the area during the last 12 months. He added that the deal demonstrates the practice’s ability to support clients at every stage of business development.
Dave said: “We assisted Actavo with their move to Tickton in 2016 and again, as the fully-retained agents for the Freightliner Road site, when their rapid expansion led to the need for larger premises.
“We also acted for the previous occupiers of the Freightliner Road site, Kingston Modular Systems, with regard to their relocation to Stockholm Road in Hull. We are delighted to have played a part in the ongoing success of Actavo and to have been able to meet the changing requirements of both companies.”
Matthew Goff, Operations Director for Actavo Building Solutions, said: “Actavo is delighted to be establishing its new manufacturing facility and generating employment here in Hull. Actavo chose Hull primarily due to the critical mass of industry and the skilled workforce in the city and surrounding areas. Our new premises are also strategically located, adjacent to the ring road on the western side of Hull city centre, which is ideal for an offsite construction company.” Roger Hastie,CEO of Actavo Structural Division, said “We look forward to operating from our new Hull base and to playing an active role in the locality in the years ahead.”
