Garness Jones has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new industrial agency surveyor who returns to the region after graduating from Bristol University.
Charlie Parkinson, who comes from Beverley and lives in North Cave, graduated with a BSc Honours in real estate in June but brings significant experience having spent 15 months on work placement with Yorkshire Water.
His time there enabled him to begin working towards becoming a chartered surveyor and influenced his decision to work in the busy environment of a small, independent practice.
Charlie said: “I went to Bristol because I felt I would benefit from studying further afield. The placement with Yorkshire Water brought me back to the region and gave me good experience of working on various aspects of estate management including landlord and tenant matters, selling and leasing land, and access rights.
“But I wanted the opportunity of taking on more responsibility in a smaller firm and during my last year at university I found out about Garness Jones and got to know some of the people here. The first few weeks have been incredibly busy with viewings, lettings and sales. “The market here has changed a lot. People come here for City of Culture and they find it’s a great place. It’s an exciting time to be here and it’s good to be a part of it.”
Dale Gooderham, Senior Agency Surveyor at Garness Jones, said: “Charlie is a welcome addition to the team and is gaining experience across all areas of the business as part of our commitment to his training and development. He’s already making a good contribution and is working towards obtaining his professional qualifications as soon as possible.”
